Howdy riders',
Just thought I'd throw something out here since I know there must be a fairly large group of riders out here in the ol' SCV and it's a shame to see all the hard work of a site like this go to waste and die away like my fitness and nerves. So I know most of you who are reading this probably ride Kona on occasion. As far as SCV trails go, I find myself favoring some variation of these trails more so than any other. I don't know of any other wide open singletrack that lets you high speed carve the way Kona does. Frequent wildlife sightings are cool too. Have you seen that pair of coyotes out there? Would swear one looks half-dog. Saw a wild black horse the other day off the old Junkyard trail. Startled me at first.Thought I was seeing things. I was afraid I was gonna' have to stop smoking crack before rides. So anyway, two things. Has anyone ridden out in Kern. I raced the classic out there years ago, but I noticed BIKE mag' mentioning it lately. Also, I was curious about running UST tires. Anyone got experience with trailside repair using these? Pain in the ass? Thanks for any info. Happy trails everyone, gotta' go blog the Jonas Brothers site.

Kona is the more popular single track in the Charlie and Tapia canyon area. Most people park at the Castaic Sports complex and head up from there. Several trails/variations exist. I believe you can find info. on this site. If not, I can provide info. There are property owners along the entry who are pretty cool towards MTBers , (they've only shot a couple). They just don't like us congregating in front of their homes, pissing off the dogs. Have fun.
