So, I haven't really been on the bicycle for about 4-5 years (been riding moto though)...injuries, surgeries, set backs, job change etc...Recently (last weekend) I picked up an 08 SJ and decided it was time to return to what I enjoyed.  Prior to this I used to ride Tapia at least once a week and it was my favorite trail in the SCV.

I've been lurking here and reading all the updates regarding this trail and have been looking forward to riding the "new" sections.  Got off early yesterday with the intention of going out there.  By the time I got home it was windy and getting a bit chilly and I wasn't ready to brave the elements.  Woke up this morning and decided it was time, since I didn't have to be at work until later.

All I can say is WOW...the last time I rode this trail parts of it were unrideable, due to fire, bulldozing sections etc.  I used to take the fire road to the power lines and then come down the trail that crosses back and forth across the dry creek bed (kona trail?)  Started out today and found the lead in just pass the houses.  Is this Kona?  Anyway, took the single track all the way to the power lines and didn't want to stop.  Saw another ST off to the left up there and figured I'd take that way back.  That lead me back to the saddle area near the top of (Kona?) and then proceeded back down to the houses.

The ride up was mellow, not a lung buster but just a nice consistant up.  Coming down was a blast, it flowed real nice.  I want to thank those of you who peiced all the sections together and continued it at the bottom, passed the old gate.

To say the least, I will be back exploring all the other rides i used to do up there.  I saw a couple of different optons off (Kona?)  So, rally up all you SCV pedalers, lets get out there and ride this while we still have it.

What are the other loops you guys have been doing up there?

Thanks

I ride Tapia just about every weekend and it's my favorite. If you take the fire road up to the power lines, the singletrack on your right is "Burn Victim", the one on the left is "Kona". They both meet at the top of Tapia Creek. Take the creek trail back to the fire road, then head back up the fire road to the plateau area. There are some trails to the left that lead to the "Junkyard" and another that drops into Charlie Canyon.
