I just talked to Randy and he can for sure make it at 9:30a at JPL. And, I can do it for sure at 9:30a. Thanks for accommodating. I will be driving from South Bay ---> SCV to pick up my bike --> JPL so I wouldn't have been able to make the 8:30a time.

Hi!
I am visiting my wife's family in Valencia and would like to get out with some people who know the trails around here. I did not fly my bike out here, so I am riding on my brother-in-law's rigid frame Rockhopper. If it is not too late I would be interested in the 9:30 ride tomorrow. I do not know where JPL is, but I have a map and a rental van and ought to be able find it with minimal directions. Or maybe a ride later in the week. We will be staying year until 1/2. Thanks, David

David again, my cell phone is 847-226-9510. I can handle long rides, but am only so-so on technical downhills.

I dont think I am going to make this one...but here is the TH info Link to Google Maps for Trail Head @ JPL5 South to 210 East exit Windsor go North to the lot on the left just before the road makes a hard right. the Downhill has some tight step down switchbacks, some rocky sections, and can be somewhat technical. I would prefer to have a suspension bike on this ride. Parts of these trails are used regularly by DH riders Here is a pic of one of the Switches Click on the pic to see the rest!!!

Thanks for the directions and the trail info. I think I will take a pass and maybe try the trails by San Fernando Road today.

If you do ride locally, the end of SanFernandoRd is a 4.5mi fire road straight up, nice views at top. On the way down, there is some singletrack that parallels the fire road starting at the gate. Another nice local trail is Towsley Canyon. All singletrack and a bit more interesting. It's off the 5fwy at Calgrove. See http://www.lamountains.com/parks.asp?parkid=10 for a map. Enjoy!
