I did this new section with Mike Fowler this morning (Up single track and back). It is awesome!! I am very shocked this trail has been here the whole time. Great condition despite the wet weather.
Cheers to you Mike for locating this sweet trail !! Were gonna do this trail again tomorrow morning (Sun) at 8:30am.

Cool, thanks.   Does it drop past/over a bunch of telephone poles or rail ties that are laying flat?  I remember doing that on my dirt bike a long time back.

Did you guys go up the singletrack also?    How was it sunday, cuz it rained abunch at my house sat. nite.    scott

Amazingly, it was actually very dry in many sections on Sat and Sun despite the rain..

I did not see any railroad ties or a group of telephone poles during the ride. This particular section kinda boarders the east/southeast rim area of Texas Caynon. As you look across towards the west/northwest you can see The Sierra Pelona ridge.

is the 4.5 mi dirt fire road, the one that was at one time asphalt, the one that splits off to the left if you were doing the old loop??

Yes..Exactly! Rather than turning right to do the loop, you continue up the asphalt/dirt road and continue all the way up. There is a fireroad that goes off to the right but stay left and continue up..

Great trail, thanks for sharing this find!!!   blob8
Rode it on Thursday morning, fast decents, steep climbs, cool canyon section, tight ST.
Gets the ol' ticker pumping on the climbs but worth every bit.
The Viperesque drop is hard packed, and keep on you toes near the bottom for the dried up mud rut.
