OVERVIEW: A unique week-long "rolling festival" through California that will become one of the nation's largest and most recognized annual special events. This international, Tour de France-style bicycle (stage) race will feature 15-16 professional cycling teams from around the world competing for the highest prize purse in North America. It will be the
focal point of cultural festivals and recreational events in cities and towns across the state.
WHEN: The inaugural Tour of California is scheduled for February 19-26, 2006.
WHERE: Scheduled over eight consecutive days, the Tour of California will showcase nearly 700 miles throughout California.

Very cool to have all these top pro teams in our area.  I'm there all day!

Roger at Newhall Bike is organizing a road ride from Santa Clarita to the race in Oxnard or Ventura.  It will allow time to watch the racers go by then return to Santa Clarita.  If I recall correctly he said it would be on the 25th.  I think that is the straight stuff on it but check with Newhall Bike for the real deal.  That should be a nice full day outing. I'll be camping around Solvang or Santa Barbara so I can't do the ride but I look forward to seeing the raceer go by.

Len-Yes, Stage 6 is on the 25th. I was at an organization meeting at Amgen last night for the race and they have changed some of the route.  I'd check the route maps on the website but Ojai/Santa Paula seems like a great place for you guys to watch and then ride back to SC.   We're expecting to see the lead pack come into the Amgen area for a 3 lap circuit @ 1PM.

Check out the PDF I attached for the route.
