My Duc flys without wings!

What: 40 miles of riding bliss with 4k of purging
When: Sun. Jan. 29 RTR at 7am
Where: Santa Clarita/Placerita Cyn Rd. exit off the 14 freeway <email me for the 411 on directions>
How: mtb, burly road bikes, cross bike, bmx bike with booster rockets
Why: no football and a way too long honey do list

Gobs of postive training opportunities for the endurance junkies.  Thrill seekers be warned: this ain't for you (i.e., unfortunately, no bonzai DH or shuttle runs not that there's anything wrong with that cause I'm a fan of gravity assisted speed).

Ride begins with a 9 mile climb. Very brief rest followed by a short downhill singletrack. "Re-aquafication" and a rescue/bail out assessment before another climb of 6 miles. And so on the freaky love show goes. Singlespeed or 29'er friendly.

Bring a "self reliant" attitude and we'll groove out 4-5+ hrs of endorphine enhanced pleasure!  ALL whiners and slackers will be beat down and left as a sacrifice to the mtn gods or ground squirrels, whichever comes first. violent1

Post ride beverages to soothe what ale's us. occasion14

Park @ Walker Ranch, backtrack to the bottom of SF fireorad, climb to the Nike base/Firestation at the top, proceed down<either using the singletrack or road> to Bear Divide, up SC Divide to Magic Mtn/radio towers, down to Indian Cyn, LEFT at the saddle heading north towards Soledad, paved roads back to the cars on Placerita Cyn

Epic. Almost 50 miles, 6000+ ft of gain, 3 flats, 1 broken chain, 1 worthless fireman, and a full contact fistfight between some hikers at Walker Ranch that I broke up.

I'll try to attach the Google kmz file if I can figure it out.

All in all, it was glorious!  azn

Cool...50 miles & 6000ft WoW
Fight, a rider and a hiker or Hiker on Hiker?
How many showed up for the pain with gain ride?
Worthless firemen?
Let me know when you plan on your next test of will, hopefully I can make it and make it

what's a tmz file, how do I open it? Down Indian cyn or a pretty cool trail? Last time I came down that pretty cool trail a Bobcat had done fresh cutting on it about a mile or so down the trail. Did it go further?

GO STEELERS! GO STEELERS! GO STEELERS! GO STEELERS![/color]

Sup K Dawg?!? Planning on bringing a couple friends to the Superless Bowl ride.  What kinda bikes will CANNONDALE have there for demo-any Rushs or Prophets?  I'll ring ya tomorrow at the shop for the 411.

The file I mentioned was a Google Earth shot of the route we did Sunday.  Download Google Earth and then click on the attachment-the program will open the file.

I included an image below of the grande loop we did down Indian Cyn.  Friends chain broke prior to the 'pretty cool cycling trail' so we coasted on down the FR.

It was a great training ride but if there is such a concept as too much climbing, this ride might be the poster child.  GPS got 6664 ft of elev gain.  I definitely need the saddle time but damn that was a long mofo! huh

Good to see you out on the trail again!  You dragged your "just-met" rider on that 50 mile ride?  Geez! One of these days we're gonna have to ride your new local stomping ground.

Chris-likewise, great to see you and Cliff and that you're still hitting the trails.

The "just met" girl could go all day (riding that is) but she had an appt and bailed on the way up Magic Mtn.

Cheers! icon_pirat
